New Hero for Marliss

Luke Evans plays Bard the Bowman in the new Hobbit movie.

To kick off 2014, I went and saw the new Hobbit movie, The Desolation of Smaug, and it turned out to be my favorite of the series so far. With less emphasis on those hideous Orcs and no appearance of Gollum, who creeps me out, I enjoyed this Hobbit movie more than the others–no doubt because there’s a romantic element.

Romance comes into play when a pretty Elf named Tauriel, played by Evangeline Lilly, finds herself in a love triangle between the warrior elf played by Orlando Bloom and the dwarf played by Aiden Turner. (Who wouldn’t want to be in that love triangle?) A huge potential for romance is presented in the form of Bard the Bowman, played by the Welsh actor, Luke Evans. (Be still my heart!) Compared to the dwarfs, Bard the Bowman looked positively commanding–and he’s a widower with three kids and excellent aim. The only thing he’s missing is a love interest to reward him for his valor. I would like to volunteer. He’s going to kill that vicious dragon in the next movie, which we must all wait two years to see.

Is it just me who thinks that Bard the Bowman makes the perfect warrior hero? Chime in and give me your opinion!
