Chances are, if you read my blog, you support our military men and women and, therefore, you support their dogs. So, yes, you should definitely see the movie about Max the war dog if you haven’t already done so. If you’re still waffling, I’m not going to twist your arm by telling you that it’s of the same caliber as American Sniper, because it’s not. There is much about the plot that is contrived and even formulaic. But I still loved the movie for several reasons:  One, it honors our military and most especially its four-legged members,  many of whom have given their lives to keep their two-legged counterparts from taking the brunt of IEDs and ambushes. Two, the dog that plays Max is brilliant. He can act like he’s been traumatized by his wartime experiences; he can melt your heart with a steady look; he can make you cry over his loyalty; and he can make you laugh at how fast he spins around and runs into the fray. I fell in love with him. Three, the book is reminiscent of a story in my head—one that bubbling in the creative pot of my mind. When I saw the movie trailer for Max, I thought that someone had stolen my storyline. Luckily, mine is a bit different and definitely better. I just need to write it.

So, yes. Go see Max the war dog movie. Take your young teens but not anyone under ten, I don’t think. And don’t forget your tissues. Since I liked it, I think you will, too.
