That is the current question on the minds of many Americans, and certainly Syrians, as well. Will we go to war with Syria or not?
I posed this question in THE ENFORCER and offered two opposing views–my heroine clings to one opinion; my hero to the other. But I let you, the reader, decide the answer for yourself. I don’t think it’s an author’s place to preach to her readers, and I respect your individual opinions. While I do have an opinion on impending war with Syria, I’m not going to force my opinion down any reader’s throat. I write fiction, not editorials.
The same is true regarding other issues brought up in THE ENFORCER–such as federal versus individual authority and gun control. My heroine is the head of a West Virginia militia known for its anti-government philosophy. Several civil rights issues come up in this book. Do the Feds have the right to eavesdrop on civilians the same way that civilians have the right to form a militia? What if those civilians demonstrate suspicious behaviors? My heroine certainly looks suspicious, given the fact that components of the bomb that killed the U.S. Secretary of Defense were traced to a hardware store right in her hometown of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
Who’s right and who’s wrong, or is that way too simple of a question to put forward? You won’t find an answer in THE ENFORCER because all I do is offer up the questions. Readers get to arrive at their own conclusions while holding fast to their own beliefs.
So sit back, read and enjoy!
